PLEASE START US OFF BY INTRODUCING YOURSELF:
Mike Strollart, I do a bunch of art stuff on the game and work with an awesome team on Below the Stone. I'm the director and been doing game dev for about 7 or so years now.
TELL US ABOUT BELOW THE STONE.
Below the Stone is an extraction roguelike about dwarves on the quest for the deepest depths. A place where each and every descent will lead to new adventures -- and where only the most determined dwarves with many lost lives will be rewarded by the hidden world lying below the stone. We got a lot of inspiration from Dwarf fortress, Terraria, Deep Rock Galactic, Enter the Gungeon, and many other mining games and roguelikes
HOW HAS THE DEVELOPMENT JOURNEY BEEN
Development has been a long journey! its not easy making procedurally generated games like this.
WHICH GAME ENGINE DID YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
We use Unity because it was our first big step into making a "commercial title" game.
WHAT'S BEEN YOUR BIGGEST DEVELOPMENT HURDLE SO FAR?
Our biggest hurdle has been just been getting the word out there, so having the ability to talk on something like this helps a ton!
ADVICE FOR FELLOW DEVS?
I highly recommend other indie devs reach out with their games, and put themselves out there like this. Often times its easy to forget the marketing side of things. Take care of your communities and the fans who are close to you.
ANY FINAL THOUGHTS?
I think just doubling down on my advice, put your game, your art, your creations out there in the world, you'll find people like yourself and make a lot of new friends!
