PLEASE START US OFF BY INTRODUCING YOURSELF:

My name is Trying To Code, and I've been making games for 4 years now.

TELL US ABOUT SHADOW WALKER.

Shadow Walker is a 2d top down procedurally generated shooter. The idea came about as I wanted to make one final game and I wanted it to be fun. I've always loved 2d shooter games and I didn't want to go in over my head making a full 3d release so that's why I decided on that. I slowly added in features I liked and I think it's turning into something I enjoy playing.

HOW HAS THE DEVELOPMENT JOURNEY BEEN

The development of Shadow Walker has been slow but steady, it can be hard to work on a game, go to school, and make youtube videos about it at the same time.

WHICH GAME ENGINE DID YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

I use unity because it's what I've been using for a while and I like how it works. If I were to make another game it would probably be in godot but right now I'm totally fine with making a unity game.

WHAT'S BEEN YOUR BIGGEST DEVELOPMENT HURDLE SO FAR?

I haven't really had any big hurdles, it's all a bunch of little ones. Marketing is a tough one and if I was relying on money from this game I'd probably be panicking at the moment. Making art, music, programming, game design, fitting it all together in a nice way, and all those indie dev things is tough, but honestly I'm getting through it and it's fun for me to problem solve about this stuff.

ADVICE FOR FELLOW DEVS?

I think my advice for people making their own games would be that there is no magic sauce, stop asking for advice and just start making games. (a bit harsh but I think too many people watch devlogs or tutorials and just don't do anything about it)

ANY FINAL THOUGHTS?
