PLEASE START US OFF BY INTRODUCING YOURSELF:

I'm Karatkuro!  I started making games when my friend sent me Game Maker 8 back when it first came out...  I thought it was too complicated and closed it immediately.  About a month later, curiosity got the best of me and I opened gamemaker back up and followed the basic tutorial.  This led me down a rabbit hole of slowly making more and more complicated games until I reached the point where I'm making a game that'll be on store shelves!  (Assuming gamestop will even still be around by the time I finish this game lmao)

TELL US ABOUT MYTH CALLER.

My current game is Myth Caller: The Nightmare Shaman, a 3D platformer fused with a monster-catching RPG!  It is the spiritual successor to Xander the Monster Morpher, an older game I made that's a top-down shooter crossed with a monster-catching RPG.

HOW HAS THE DEVELOPMENT JOURNEY BEEN

The journey has had a LOT of bumps in the road... half of which have come from out choice of engine.

WHICH GAME ENGINE DID YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

Although I chose Unity, I do not recommend using Unity anymore, I wish I had stuck with Game Maker (the beta of myth caller actually was in game maker!)

WHAT'S BEEN YOUR BIGGEST DEVELOPMENT HURDLE SO FAR?

The biggest hurdle beyond unity itself has been the sheer scope of the game.  This is FAR from my first game, but even so, making something this big is very difficult for someone who is developing 90% of the game solo.

ADVICE FOR FELLOW DEVS?

Start small and slooooowly work your way up to more complex things.  Some of the most fun I've ever had with gamedev was when I was making little stupid hour-long unpolished games full of inside jokes with my friends.

ANY FINAL THOUGHTS?

Thanks for having me!
