We’re Sunshineshiny, originally founded by one person. Sunshineshiny began as an individual art account on DeviantArt, before entering game development in 2024 and expanding into a team that consists of multiple artists, project managers, and programmers working across both the East and West coasts in the U.S. We are all passionate individuals who collaborate on various aspects of game development.
TELL US ABOUT LIGHT: PATH OF THE ARCHMAGE
We are creating an open-world game called LIGHT: Path of the Archmage, and the Steam page has been released! The game features multiple storylines you can unlock from recruiting different playable characters, as well as a farming and potion brewing simulator. As you unlock each new character, a new storyline is revealed, and you can follow different POV while also progressing through the main theme of the game. We have all original music and art (2D hand-drawn). The idea was inspired from various artworks done from the original Sunshineshiny art account, and we are now bringing those artworks to life! We plan to release the demo in Q1 2025.
HOW HAS THE DEVELOPMENT JOURNEY BEEN
Development journey has been great! We have learned a lot.
WHICH GAME ENGINE DID YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
We chose Unity Game Engine since we were more familiar with it.
WHAT'S BEEN YOUR BIGGEST DEVELOPMENT HURDLE SO FAR?
Definitely animating the combat movements, but we’re getting better at it!
ADVICE FOR FELLOW DEVS?
Finding a team definitely helps! That way everyone can provide their best work based on their skills.
