We're the developers of Douze Dixièmes, a studio localized near Paris, in France. We like making games with a strong visual identity and a lot of inspiration in painting.
The idea for the game came from a very simple thing : we wanted to make a game with a fast moving hook and lots a dynamics. The idea was to be able to cross the screen in just an instant. So first we had a move set and then the universe and the rest followed.
Well to be honest the development journey was not all unicorns and rainbows. There was some great moments and some very stressfull.
Overall, we learned a lot, we're happy with the result (but some mistakes were made... we'll do better next time) and we will need some holidays after the release :)
The game was made on a proprietary engine.
That's a tough one ! I would say that the biggest development hurdle was the combat system. We had a lot of difficulty to find systems and designs that fit what we wanted the player to feel while playing.
Take your time if you can. Creative ideas and solution need to mature. Implementation of these ideas needs to be clean and details matter.
