PLEASE START US OFF BY INTRODUCING YOURSELF:

I am Ramy Dergham, 29 years old game developer from Egypt. I have been inspired by LittleBigPlanet game to actually make games. Crash Bandicoot is my favourite game of all time and my dream is to make games that can be remembered in a 100 years from now :) . I have a full-time mobile game developer job and am making my solo indie games in my free time. Light Dude is my first indie game so hoping it goes well✌️

TELL US ABOUT LIGHT DUDE.

It started out as a game jam project based on the theme "duality". I was walking in my room in the dark and my fit hit the edge of my bed, at that very specific moment, the idea popped in my head😅

HOW HAS THE DEVELOPMENT JOURNEY BEEN

It was a fun learning journey so far, it is my first pc game on steam so I am taking it as a learning experience.

WHICH GAME ENGINE DID YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

I am using Unity engine because I have +9 years od experience using the engine.

WHAT'S BEEN YOUR BIGGEST DEVELOPMENT HURDLE SO FAR?

... Marketing for sure!

ADVICE FOR FELLOW DEVS?

My only advice would be to make your first game a very small scale project, especially if you are like me with a full-time job and working on the indie game in spare time as weekends. Small project will make you learn fast & there is a much higher chance that you are going to finish it.

ANY FINAL THOUGHTS?

I would say try to be unique in your games when possible, am not sure if this is a correcr business-wise decision or not based on game type, but normally I try to make my games has unique feel/mechanics as much as possible :)
