Hello,
We are Ça Part En Prod, a French indie game studio founded by Allan Guis (formerly
at Artefacts Studio and Gameleon Studio), Gauthier Leblanc, and Jérémy Payre (who
previously worked at Dual Cat and Old Skull Games).
We first met during our Game Design studies, and after gaining experience in
different studios, we naturally found our way back to each other to start our own
adventure.
Lighthouse started as a personal project by Jérémy, who was experimenting with HLSL shaders. He shared his work on Twitter just to get some feedback.
To our surprise, it gained traction 80.lv featured it in an article, and Unity3D even showcased it on their official Twitter.
At that time, we were actually writing and prototyping a completely different project.
But after seeing the interest around Lighthouse, we felt that this was the one that should kick off our journey as a studio.
We joined a game-focused incubator in Lyon in 2024, which helped us structure the early development. From there, we began looking for funding thankfully, France offers quite a few public support programs for creative projects.
With Lighthouse, our goal is to create a game with simple yet deep gameplay, paired with a bold and memorable art direction.
We’re in full hardcore indie mode, haha. The three of us (co-founders) chose not to quit our day jobs right away, to avoid the pressure of financial instability. So we work on Lighthouse in our free time, each with different schedules.
Luckily, some close friends have also jumped in to help out during their spare time (shoutout to them ❤️). To make it even more challenging, we brought on full-time artists who work standard hours so syncing everything has been... an art in itself.
Despite the chaos, we’ve found a rhythm. We make time to meet regularly,
brainstorm together, attend conferences, and just enjoy the process sometimes over a good meal.
We’re using Unity because it’s the engine we know best. Since we’re not working on
the game daily, learning a new engine would have slowed us down too much.
Familiarity really helps us stay efficient.
Like most indie studios, funding has been one of the toughest challenges.
We started with a friends-and-family round, which helped us secure our first hires and build the upcoming demo soon to be available on Steam! We’re extremely grateful for the trust and support we’ve received.
That initial boost allowed us to apply for public grants, giving us a bit more long-term visibility.
To strengthen our production, especially on the visual side, we partnered with Gameleon Studio, who brought their artistic expertise to the project and helped us deliver on our creative vision.
Now, we’re in the phase of looking for a publisher, which brings its own set of challenges. It takes time, patience, and a lot of resilience.
Don’t isolate yourselves. Talk about your game, share your progress, and ask for feedback.
It will help you gain perspective and escape the tunnel vision that comes with deep development work.
Remember you’re making a game to have fun, but also to help others have fun and escape for a while. So listen to your audience. You’ll gain energy, motivation, and fresh ideas that can push your project in amazing directions.
