Add the Falling Platforms folder to the FileSystem

Level Design:

Create any level you like.

You may copy my level layout.

This time we will spawn Strawberries dynamically and have 1 to start

Also, we will create a scene for a Hovering and Falling Platform

You don't have those yet

Select the FallingPlatformLevel node

Attach a Script to it

Set the number of strawberries you plan

to use in the level

Falling Platform Scene

Create a new scene with CharacterBody2D as the root

Rename it to FallingPlatform

Add a CollisionShape2D

Choose new RectangleShape 2D

Add an AnimatedSprite2D

Add a new Sprite Frames resource

Click on the SpriteFrames resource

Rename the default animation to "off"

Use the Off.png as the only frame

Add a new animation

Rename it to "on"

Press Ctrl+Shift+O

Choose the On.png file

Set Horizontal frames to 4

Set Vertical frames to 1

Select All

Add 4 frames

Set the on animation to Autoplay

Turn on looping

Set FPS to 15

Add an Area2D node as a child of FallingPlatform

Add a CollisionShape2D node as a child of Area2D

Attach a script to the FallingPlatform node

Create a tween to make the platform hover up and down

Get a reference to the AnimatedSprite2D so that

we can turn off the animation when the platform falls

Create variables to

set the hover distance

set the hover duration

check if hovering

check if falling

set fall speed

set fall gravity

In the ready function

start the hovering

This function will be created later...

In the process function

if the platform is falling

set the fall speed to increase over time

change the position downwards

Create the start hover function

store the initial y position of the platform

We will create the hover animation using tween...

What is a tween?

A Tween is a tool for smoothly animating changes in a node's properties over time. It's essentially a way to interpolate (gradually change) values from a starting point to an ending point using a specific function, often called an "easing function". This allows for creating procedural animations directly in code.
