For the moment, the most important part of the interface is the button which switches between Object Mode and Edit Mode. You can also use the keyboard shortcut - TAB
move, scale, rotate and organize objects
zoom, slice, reshape and adjust geometry
Edit mode gives you access to the vertex, edge and face of the cube
The coordinate system in Blender is:
X axis: Horizontal positive right, negative left
Y axis: Depth positive away, negative toward you
Z axis: Vertical up, negative down
The 3D Cursor can be moved by
Pressing Shift+Right-Click anywhere in the viewport
Configure Snapping options by pressing Shift+S and choosing
Important views in Blender:
Perspective: How the human eye would see it, objects further away appear smaller
Orthographic: Size is uniform regardless of camera distance
Press Num Key 5 to switch views
Hold down the middle mouse button and drag.
Hold Shift + middle mouse button and drag.
Press . On the number pad
This rotates the view around the scenes focal point.
This moves the view parallel to the 3D Viewport plane.
This adjusts the distance between the viewport camera and the scenes focal point.
Frames the selected object in the viewport
Make sure to be in Object Mode
Press Shift + A or click the Add menu
Choose camera from the list
Press 0 on the num pad to switch to the active camera view
Press Ctrl + 0 to see what the camera sees
